Thanks to our incredible supporters, Ruth Eckerd Hall is proud to announce the return of our popular Summer Saturday Movie Series at the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre, an exciting community experience running from June 15th to August 17th. Through donor support, tickets to this beloved event are kept at the low cost of $5.00 to best serve our Tampa Bay region in a uniquely historic setting.

The 2024 “Anniversary Edition” series is all about nostalgia, and with over 1,000+ patrons of all ages in attendance, the Ruth Eckerd Hall programming team has created an event with something for everyone. “We try to offer several titles that could appeal to different age groups so that families can spend the day, or evening, at the movies together”, says Director of Ruth Eckerd Hall Operations, Brianna Hartigan.

This year’s summer movie series will feature classic fan favorites such as: Forrest Gump (30th Anniversary) on June 15th, The Wizard of Oz (85th Anniversary) on June 22nd, Purple Rain (30th Anniversary) on June 29th, Mean Girls (20th Anniversary) on July 13th, Pulp Fiction (30th Anniversary) on July 20th, Clerks (30th Anniversary) on August 3rd, and The Never Ending Story (40th Anniversary) on August 17th.

Built in 1921, the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre was first established as a motion picture house and described in the local Clearwater news as, “One of the most beautifully finished playhouses in the South”. Over 100 years later, the theatre currently acts as a Nationally-recognized music venue, operated by Ruth Eckerd Hall in downtown Clearwater.

“Keeping the movies low cost offers affordable entertainment in the area. Especially out of the sun!”, Brianna Hartigan goes on to say. “It’s also such a nice nod to the history of the theater as it has been a movie theater several times in its lifetime and we want to keep that tradition alive.”

The 2024 Summer Movie Series is proudly sponsored by 105.5 WDUV, Creative Loafing, 107.3 The Eagle, and our valued Ruth Eckerd Hall Members. For more information & to reserve your tickets, visit our website: Summer Movies | Ruth Eckerd Hall
